1. Why you were looking forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be)

I had never visited the ground before and as both teams were locked on the same points it was set to be an entertaining game. Tranmere is one of the more better grounds in the league and so I hoped for an enjoyable day out.

2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking

I took the official coach as I didn't fancy the 450 mile round trip by car. The ground was pretty easy to get to and we arrived at 12:30pm. On arrival the sheer size of the Kop was something to admire.

3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?

We headed for the Mersey Clipper which is opposite the ground and they admitted away fans. Inside you will find large bar area, with raised seating and plenty of widescreens to watch the early kick-off. Plenty on offer with a pint or Fosters (£2.40) and Strongbow (£2.45) going down well with the travelling support. Food was also available and looked fantastic. The locals are friendly enough with some good friendly banter, well when you could understand them!

4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then other sides of the ground.

The ground is one of the better ones with three of the stands being rebuilt in recent years. The Kop dominates one end of the ground and reminds you of the home end at Walsall. The main stand was the oldest stand but still didn't look bad with plenty of seating available. Opposite was a smaller stand which housed a fair few families, young kids etc. The cowshed (away end) was very steep, but at least it kept you close to the pitch and had no supporting pillars impeding your view. The food inside the ground was the usual burgers (£2.20), hot dogs and a selection of pies. I do believe alcohol was available in the away end, but stick to the Clipper Pub, far better and beer out of a glass rather than a plastic cup.

5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..

The game itself was quite an eventful affair with Yeovil going down 1-0 within the first 5 minutes to a thunderbolt by Calvin Zola. We rarely got out of our half during the first 45 minutes but it improved after the break. The 250 or so Yeovil fans had something to cheer when Andy Kirk drew us level soon after the restart. However Scott Guyett made a mistake at the back and brought down Zola for a penalty. Up stepped on loan Jension Myrie Williams and he made no mistake from the spot. It got worse when moments later Marc Bircham was dismissed harshly for a 2nd bookable offence. The last 20 minutes we pushed and pushed but couldn't break the Tranmere back line. I must admit the atmosphere within the ground was poor with only the home drummer trying to make some noise. We were know better but on the performance we had a good reason not to be. The stewards seem friendly enough but the toilets are usual football league affair.

6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the game:

Was on the M53 in ten minutes and back at Huish Park by 10pm including a stop at Strensham.

7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out:

Good day out at Tranmere, tickets are cheaper then most league clubs and great pre-match venue in the Mersey Clipper. Would recommend a visit.
